Registration for 2026 is open

by FLYBACK Frutigen

The FLYBACK Frutigen 2025 was a fantastic event, with perfect flying conditions, a great atmosphere and a diverse field of participants – and for the first time, it was also part of the SHV Swiss Cup Hike & Fly. We’re already really looking forward to this year’s event.

— The Registration for FLYBACK Frutigen 2026 is open now —

So save the date in your calendar and sign up now!

Registration and payment collection will again be handled directly via the Hike n Fly Switzerland live tracking system. This simplifies our administrative tasks and prevents duplicate entries.

There are a number of small changes and minor improvements for this year’s event, which we would like to tell you about below:

Route

The route has undergone minor changes since last year.
The radius of all TPs and CPs has been increased (TP = 400m, CP = 200m), some waypoints have been removed, and others have been reclassified from CPs to TPs or vice versa.

  • The route map (Google Maps) has been updated accordingly.
  • The checkpoints and waypoints have been updated and are available for download on our website or via the Hike n Fly Switzerland live tracking system (after logging in).

SHV Swiss Cup

Special/additional rules apply to athletes wishing to take part in the Swiss Cup (see also ‘Regulations’):

  • A CIVL ID is required to register (this must be entered in the relevant field during registration). A CIVL ID can be created free of charge at https://civlcomps.org/sign-in.
  • All athletes taking part in the Swiss Cup are subject to the anti-doping regulations of Swiss Olympic and accept the declaration of compliance with anti-doping rules (see the relevant tile under ‘Info’).
  • The categories being judged are Women’s Solo and Men’s Solo.
The minimum number of participants per category is 5.

However, it is extremely important to us that FLYBACK Frutigen retains its unique character and remains a hike-and-fly race for pilots of all skill levels and experience – with fun being the top priority. Therefore, in addition to the ‘standard’ categories ‘Solo Women’ and ‘Solo Men’, there will still be categories for flight students and tandem pilots (the latter subject to interest).

Only those who explicitly register with a CIVL ID for one of the two categories “Solo Women” or “Solo Men” will automatically take part in the Swiss Cup.
Those who do not provide a CIVL ID when registering will take part in the FLYBACK Frutigen in the “normal” way (without participating in the Swiss Cup).

Replacement date

We’re hoping for great flying conditions again this year. If the event cannot take place on 15 August 2026, we have set Saturday 29 August 2026 as the replacement date. So please make a note of the replacement date in your calendar straight away.

Rules and Regulations

The regulations (see the relevant tile under ‘regulations’) have undergone minor changes and additions. These are binding on all participating pilots and, by registering, participants are deemed to have read and accepted them.

We would be delighted to welcome many of the previous participants – and hopefully plenty of new ones too – at FLYBACK Frutigen 2026. Why not tell your pilot friends about it and challenge each other in this Hike & Fly race?

Be sure to keep an eye on our news section; we’ll keep you updated there whenever there’s news or interesting information to share about FLYBACK Frutigen 2026.
